DOUGLAS KAHIKINA CHANG APPOINTED GENERAL MANAGER OF THE RITZ-CARLTON CLUB AND RESIDENCES, KAPALUA BAY

KAPALUA RESORT, Maui – August 5, 2008 – The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, Kapalua Bay, announced today the appointment of Douglas Kahikina Chang as general manager for the luxurious private and fractional ownership development scheduled to open at the renowned Kapalua Resort in April 2009.


Ochtera is responsible for overseeing the property’s sales and marketing program. She brings more than 16 years of resort real estate experience to this role, highlighted by a strong background in fractional sales and marketing. She recently served as executive vice president of sales and marketing for the Levitin Group, the world’s largest training company in the vacation ownership industry. Prior to that, she was principal corporate broker and vice president of sales and marketing for American Skiing Company Resort Properties.


Ochtera fills the position previously held by Ludy Gutierrez, who recently accepted a new position with the company in Japan.

When completed, The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, Kapalua Bay will offer 84 private ownership Residences and 62 residences sold in deeded, one-twelfth fractional ownership interests, along with an abundance of amenities on a 24-acre oceanfront site. Chang is charged with overseeing Ritz-Carlton’s day-to-day operations.


Chang welcomes the challenge of the new opportunity. “The Ritz-Carlton is creating an entirely new way to live and vacation in Hawai‘i and it’s exciting to be at the forefront in establishing the service standard that will be offered. Kapalua Bay’s residents will be very happy with how we blend The Ritz-Carlton’s tradition of excellence with the charms of Maui and Kapalua Resort,” said Chang.


One of Hawai‘i’s most respected tourism leaders, Chang has served on the board of directors for the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority since 2004, including as chairman from July 2006 through June 2008. He is also on the board of directors for the Maui Hotel Association. Chang has worked for nearly three decades in Hawai‘i’s hospitality industry. Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Chang served as general manager of the Hotel-Hana Maui since 2001. Under his leadership, the legendary boutique resort was rated one of Hawai‘i’s top five resorts for outstanding service by Travel + Leisure. Before that, Chang served as hotel manager of the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club, helping to open the newly renovated resort in 1995 and overseeing a lodging inventory of 356 guest rooms and 232 vacation ownership villas.


The Ritz-Carlton Residences will offer luxurious three- and four-bedroom floor plans ranging from 3,002 to 4,271 square feet, with options to incorporate a state-of-the-art media room and den as part of the interior design. The Ritz-Carlton Club will offer fully furnished, two- and three-bedroom floor plans ranging from 1,912 to 2,257 square feet.


Residents will also receive membership to The Kapalua Club, enjoying exclusive access to a private 6,100 square-foot beach club and 8,500 square-foot lagoon-shaped pool with indoor/outdoor grill and bar. Other perks include privileged access to the new 25,000 square-foot Spa at Kapalua being built on site, and extraordinary golf and dining benefits at Kapalua Resort, including cart fee only play and advanced tee times at the Bay and Plantation Courses.
