Kauai Lagoons Names Brad Snyder General Manager Of Operations

LIHUE, KauaiSeptember 5, 2007 – Longtime Kauai resident and Marriott executive Brad Snyder has been named general manager of operations for Kauai Lagoons, the 520-acre oceanfront community overlooking the Kalapaki coastline.

Snyder will oversee the operation of the multi-faceted development, featuring residential and leisure offerings managed by Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton, the redesign of the Jack Nicklaus designed Kiele Golf Course and the introduction of new amenities including a restaurant and a full-service spa.

“Brad’s experience and his deep appreciation for Kauai and its lifestyle make him the ideal candidate to lead Kauai Lagoons,” said Dirk Schavemaker, senior vice president, customer experience and operations. “With his many years of loyal service to Marriott, we are pleased to welcome him back.”

Snyder has more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including more than a dozen years on Kauai, having first come to the Garden Isle as general manager to open the Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club in 1994. His family immediately embraced Kauai and has lived on the island almost exclusively since. Snyder even chose to commute from Kauai to Oahu during his tenure as general manager of the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina from 2001 to 2003.

“Kauai is home for me and my family, and I’m pleased to be working on a development like Kauai Lagoons,” said Snyder. “I look forward to playing a key role in helping this development grow and flourish within the community.”

Snyder began his career with Marriott in 1976 as a bellman at the Newport Beach Marriott. He worked his way up serving as general manager and in various executive positions for several Marriott properties worldwide, including London, New York, Florida, Panama and Mexico before coming to Kauai.

When fully developed, Kauai Lagoons will offer an impressive selection of residential and vacation offerings, including Ritz-Carlton and Grand Residences by Marriott private ownership residences; Ritz-Carlton Club deeded, fractional ownership residences; Marriott Vacation Club timeshare villas; and private estate lots. Approximately 350 acres, including the golf courses, will remain as undeveloped “green” space.

Also being developed are two affordable housing projects for Kauai residents. At Waipouli, 82 one-,  two-, and three-bedroom rental apartments are being built for qualifying families, while at Kauai Lagoons, 31 two-bedroom, multi-family condominiums will be available for sale to first-time homebuyers.

Additionally, a two-mile public pathway will be created within Kauai Lagoons for walking, running and biking. The public pathway also connects to the shoreline public access for fishing, picnicking and hiking.
